Our assigned production was to make a 90 second short film to be entered into the  DepicT!  competition. DepicT! is a short film competition welcoming filmmakers from all over the world to make great films. The entry requirements: To enter the DepicT! competition, our film had to be 90 seconds or less ( any longer and it would have to be entered into the  Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival),  and had to be completed after the September of the previous year ( a 2016 entry must be completed after September 2015). The competition welcomes all genres and production techniques. The films will then be shortlisted and judged by a panel of experienced judges. Previous judges have included: Chris Auty, (head of producing, National Film and Television School), Pegah Farahmand ( Editor of Random Acts, Channel 4) and Dick Pope (Oscar Nominated Cinematographer) to name but a few. 12/10/16 Today was the second day of our pre-production. We are still working on filling out our storyboards however, I do feel like we are making good progress. As we work through, we have began to realise potential issues as well as continuity errors. Thankfully, because we are spotting them early we are able to correct and work around them. I am really pleased with how are project is shaping up and I look forward to continue working on it. 17/10/16 We are making good progress. We have completed the storyboard, risk assessment and finished the script. I really feel like our project is coming together however, we just need to organise the talent release and location. I checked out our original location but it just won't work. I really like the DepicT! Film, Cool Unicorn Bruv  as I felt that the acting was strong; a comical vibe and narrative was consistent throughout, as well as some great composition within the frames. I thought they used the shot reverse shot sequence really well as the characters interacted with each other. I really enjoyed the language and dialect used in they region which they were trying to create. It helped to make the film feel immersive. I thought the ending was really well put together. They added a special effect, the rainbow shot out of the horn, which was talked about earlier in the narrative making the continuity stronger. Not only this, but the bike seller's reaction made it feel as if the unicorn was nothing special despite its mythological status.
